Bruce King is a lobsterman living in Cundy’s Harbor. In his interview, Bruce explains how lobster traps work, and how the equipment and other aspects of the lobstering industry have changed over the last 30 years. When Bruce started lobstering there was no trap limit; now there is an 800 trap limit which allows him more time to do things such as have coffee with his wife in the morning, come in earlier, and take days off.
Bruce explains how pricing per lobster has changed along with many laws and restrictions. Bruce says, “The thing I liked about it in the beginning is that the harder you worked, the better gear you could have, the better boat you could have, and you’d know everything needed to take care of your equipment as you wanted to.”
